Who is Mike Gallagher?
Mike Gallagher is a Republican congressman who represents Wisconsin’s eighth congressional district.
Gallagher earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a master’s from Georgetown University, according to his website.
He holds a second master’s from National Intelligence University and a PhD in international relations from Georgetown.
For seven years, Gallagher served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps, including two deployments to Iraq.
In 2016, he was elected to the US House of Representatives. On March 22, 2024, he announced his resignation from Congress.
The announcement was released on X, formerly Twitter.
It read, “After conversations with my family, I have made the decision to resign my position as a member of the House of Representatives, effective April 19, 2024.”
He had previously announced that he would not seek reelection, but planned on completing his current term.
