TODAY host Jenna Bush Hager’s husband Henry turned red after she spilled her ‘White House walk of shame’ secret live on air.
Henry Chase Hager, 46, appeared as a guest co-host on Thursday’s instalment of the NBC show, where he and his wife reflected on their early relationship.
The couple, who have been married for nearly 20 years, tied the knot in 2008, at Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.
During one segment, Jenna, 43, hilariously recalled their first kiss, revealing it happened while dancing to a song by rapper Lil’ Troy.
She said: “It was to Lil’ Troy, a song we can’t say on TV. We were dancing and all of a sudden, you shot your shot.”
Henry laughed before responding, “I mean, well, I don’t think you can say that on the 10 am hour of television, but, I went in for the kiss.”
As the conversation continued, Jenna teased her husband about his departure from the White House after one of their early dates.
She quipped: “I guess it just depends how we remember it. You didn’t do the walk of shame out of the White House?” prompting Henry to blush and respond, “Honey.”
At one point during the episode, their kids, Mila, 11, Poppy, nine, and Hal, five, sent in an adorable video message too.
In it, they said: “Dad! I’m excited for you. I hope… I bet you’re going to do the best!
“Dad, good luck. Do what you practiced in the car cause it was really good. Good luck, Dad. Bye, love you.”
The couple met while Jenna’s father, George W. Bush, was in office.
It made her the first daughter of a sitting U.S. president to marry in 16 years.
Henry currently serves as the Managing Director at Waterous Energy Fund.
Before joining Waterous Energy Fund, he was a director with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, where he spent six years focusing on energy and infrastructure.
Henry’s previous experience includes working as a deputy operations manager for George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election campaign.
He also held various positions at the US Department of Commerce.
When did Henry and Jenna get married?
Jenna and Henry began dating in 2005 and just a year later Jenna thought he was proposing to her at a Washington DC restaurant.
Henry had asked for a bottle of champagne to be delivered to the table, with a note taped to it.
When Jenna received the note she thought Henry was proposing but it turned out to be a prank.
However, the pair did get engaged in August of 2007.
They married the following year in May at the Bush’s family estate in Crawford, Texas.
Do they have children?
Henry and Jenna have three kids, Mila, Poppy and Hal.
Jenna frequently shows her home life on her Instagram and posts photos of her daughters and their accomplishments.
On Mila’s seventh birthday, Jenna dedicated an Instagram post to her, writing: “Happiest 7th Birthday to our Mila!
“Named after both your grandmothers, you have their love of life, love of books and love of laughter.
“Your empathy and kindness amaze. I hope you never have to guess how loved you are because our love for you is infinite!”
Jenna once dished on The Today Show that she “almost felt guilty” when she found out she was expecting a third child, saying: “I almost felt guilty because it was so much at once.
“I found out I was pregnant, I also had gotten this job. I knew from Hoda that she was dying to have another little girl to give Haley a sister. She told me that months before.
“We weren’t really trying to have a baby. We got pregnant and I called my mom and I said, ‘I just have to tell her.
She added: “I feel bad for a lot of people that are struggling and then I just get pregnant.”
