FORMER First Lady Melania Trump has shared her personal experience and struggles with gaining U.S. citizenship in a heartfelt speech praised by fans.
Melania gave a rare public speech at a naturalization ceremony at the National Archives in Washington D.C. on Friday.
In her speech, the former first lady praised the immigrants who were set to be sworn in as US citizens at the ceremony.
Conservative political commentator Benny Johnson shared a clip of Melania Trump’s speech on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Melania mentioned in her speech the many difficulties immigrants have to face to gain citizenship in this country, something she had to deal with as well.
“My personal experience of traversing the challenges of the immigration process opened my eyes to the harsh realities people face, including you, who try to become US citizens,” Melania Trump said.
The former first lady was born in Slovenia and became a US citizen in 2006. She is only the second foreign-born first lady.
A source close to former president Donald Trump said he was supportive of his wife’s participation in the event, according to CNN.
Melania’s speech comes nearly two years after the National Archives asked the Justice Department to investigate her husband’s handling of White House records.
The investigation led to an indictment of the former president, who has pleaded not guilty to 37 federal charges. The trial is expected to begin in Florida in May.
Johnson’s followers were very impressed with the former First Lady’s speech and shared how much they admired her.
“This was a beautiful speech,” one person wrote.
“Always in awe of her beauty, individualism, and class,” another shared.
“Melania Trump was the most graceful First Lady we’ve had in modern US history,” a third wrote.
“We need her back in the White House ASAP to undo Jill Biden’s woke nonsense. The 2024 presidential can’t come fast enough!” they added.
“She is the best FLOTUS we’ve ever had,” another person shared.
“Incredibly inspiring!” someone else said.

Melania Trump’s speech was particularly noteworthy as she has, for the most part, avoided public appearances since leaving Washington after President Joe Biden was elected.
Melania Trump attended her husband’s announcement last November that he would be campaigning for the 2024 presidential election, but she has not joined him for any of his recent various court appearances.
Melania’s last public appearance was at Rosalynn Carter’s funeral, which was also attended by Jill Biden, Michelle Obama, and Hillary Clinton since it is a common tradition for former First Ladies to attend one another’s funeral services.
Melania was recently criticized for her outfit at the funeral in which she elected to wear a grey suit, rather than the traditional black.
