Ex-Democrat Tulsi Gabbard backs Donald Trump at National Guard event as she praises ex-prez for ‘not starting any wars’

FORMER United States representative Tulsi Gabbard has endorsed former President Donald Trump and urged voters to do the same to save the country.

Gabbard took the stage at the National Guard Association in Detroit on Monday to throw her support behind the former president as he continues to push forward in the presidential race.

Gabbard’s endorsement comes just days after independent candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., suspended his campaign and also backed Trump on Friday.

The one-time Democrat took the stage in Michigan and gave Trump some praise before he took the stage and ended the rally with a nearly hour-long speech,

“Trump understands the grave responsibility we all bear,” Gabbard said, emphasizing that he didn’t start any wars during his presidency.

“I am confident his first task will be to do the work to walk us back from the brink of war,” she added, blaming President Joe Biden for bringing us so close to worldwide conflict.

“This administration has us facing multiple wars on multiple fronts in regions around the world, and closer to the brink of nuclear war than we ever have been before,” Gabbard said.

“This is one of the main reasons why I am committed to doing all that I can to send President Trump back to the White House, where he can once again serve us as our commander-in-chief.”

At the end of her speech, the former US representative for Hawaii urged all voters who love the country to vote for the former president.

“Save our country, elect President Donald J. Trump,” she concluded.

As Gabbard left the stage, she shook hands with Trump and the pair shared a brief hug.

The former president returned to the podium and shared that he “heard that might happen but wasn’t sure, and it happened,” he said referring to Gabbard’s endorsement.

“She’s really an amazing, really an amazing person. So I look forward to working with Tulsi and everyone in this room,” Trump said.

A DEMOCRAT NO MORE

Gabbard, who ran for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential race and endorsed President Joe Biden after dropping out, made headlines in October 2022 when she announced her departure from the party.

Her decision to leave her long-time party, she said, was rooted in deep ideological differences and a growing rift that has caused an overall dissatisfaction with the party’s direction.

She has criticized the party for shifting too far to the left, embracing an agenda she described as “divisive” and “anti-American.”

Gabbard was particularly vocal about her concerns over the party’s focus on “identity politics” and what she saw as a departure from fundamental principles, such as free speech and individual liberty.

She also accused the party of aligning itself with the military-industrial complex, something she says is contradictory to the party’s historical stance on peace and diplomacy.

Gabbard has not shied away from criticizing key figures within the Democratic leadership, openly criticizing President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Gabbard accused them of promoting a “warlike” and “corrupt” agenda that prioritized the interests of the elite over those of ordinary Americans.

Her relationship with Clinton, in particular, became highly contentious during her 2020 presidential campaign.

Clinton suggested that Gabbard was being groomed by Russia to run as a third-party candidate, a claim Gabbard vehemently denied.

Gabbard later filed a defamation lawsuit against Clinton for the claim.

Following her departure from the Democratic Party, Gabbard has positioned herself as an independent voice in the political landscape.

However, while she has not officially aligned herself with the Republican Party, Gabbard has since become a regular presence on conservative media platforms, where she continues to criticize the Democratic Party and push right-wing talking points and policies.

Gabbard even spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference before endorsing Trump on Monday.

TRUMP’S SPEECH

In his speech on Monday, Trump said he would be the president who restores “a government that puts the American people first.”

“November 5 will be the most important day, in my opinion, in the history of our country.”

Trump called the Republican party “the party of common sense.”

Trump said the country is no longer respected before veering off into a mirage of insults hurled at his political opponents and the “fake news media.”

Trump called out “Crazy” Nancy Pelosi, “Comrade” Kamala Harris, and “Tampon” Tim Walz among others on a slew of issues, but none with more points of emphasis than the southern border.

“Do not lose hope, because in a few months from now, you’ll once again have a commander-in-chief who defends the sovereign borders of the United States above all else,” Trump said to the crowd.

“On day one, I will begin the largest deportation operation in the history of our country.”

Tulsi Gabbard's Democratic Party Departure

When did Tulsi Gabbard leave the Democratic Party?

Although she ran for president as a Democrat in 2020, Tulsi Gabbard announced in October 2022 that she was leaving the party

Gabbard blasted the Democrats for being “hostile to people of faith & spirituality, demonizing the police & protecting criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, believing in open borders, weaponizing the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”

Before endorsing Donald Trump, Gabbard even appeared at the 2024 Conservative Political Action Conference as a featured speaker.
