A TARGET customer claims crime is running rampant in one important US city.
Consumers had to cancel their shopping plans after damage to the store forced its closure.
On July 29, 2024, Foxmeteorologist Jennifer Delgado took to X to report on crime at a Washington DCTarget.
She shared a photo and video showing the boarded-up Georgia Avenue store, writing, “Criminals really wanted to get in #Target last week.
“They broke out most of the windows at the Georgia Ave location in #WashingtonDC .
“#Crime is out of control. #dc.”
Shoppers expressed their thoughts in the comments of the post.
One disappointed customer wrote, “Dang! I live right by that Target. I go there all the time. Ridiculous!”
Another cleverly said, “They targeted this place.”
However, some shoppers criticized the retail giant.
“I hope they got everything they needed. These prices are insane. something gotta change,” one customer wrote.
“Close it down,” another said.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Target for comment.

Crime has had an impact on Target stores.
Some of the retail giant’s crime response measures have been considered controversial following customer criticism.
Shoppers have expressed their outrage over items being locked up behind glass cases.
The anti-theft measure is also used by Walmart and has been widely condemned by shoppers.
Anti-theft measures rolled out by retailers
Retailers across the US and Canada have rolled out strategies designed to combat theft. The U.S. Sun has compiled a list of measures that have been implemented at stores.

Customers have also complained after Target began attaching anti-theft devices to clothes.
“@Target is now attaching these anti-theft devices on many clothing items,” one disgruntled shopper wrote on X.
“I didn’t notice it when I self-checked out. Will require a schlep to the store to have it removed.”
It’s a “major pain,” the customer. added.
“This needs to be corrected given push to use self-checkout.”
