PRESIDENT Joe Biden held his first solo press conference since last November today.
It was the first briefing that the President gave alone since his disastrous presidential debate with Donald Trump, which brought criticism and calls for Biden to step down ahead of the election this fall.
Biden began the remarks by discussing the country’s support for Ukraine and stood firm that NATO is the “strongest it’s ever been.”
The president then opened the floor for questions and fielded rumors that his health was struggling.
Biden reiterated, “I think I’m the most qualified person to run for president,” a sentiment he’s expressed multiple times in recent weeks.
When asked about support for Ukraine, the president said he would continue to support them against Russia and eluded his challenger former President Donald Trump would not.
“Foreign policy has never been his strong point,” Biden said of Trump and added that the former president has an “affinity” for authoritarian leaders.
The remarks come after Biden mistakenly referred to President Zelensky as President Putin at the NATO Summit.
